AI clinical notes · GreenNotes Clinical

AI clinical notes. Drafted for you, reviewed by you.

GreenNotes records a consultation on your phone or in the browser and drafts a structured clinical note in the language you choose, including English and Afrikaans. You review and edit it, then use it for letters, reports and, with GreenNotes Billing, the invoice.

Record, transcribe, and the note fills in. The real web portal, sample data.

How it works

Four steps. One of them is yours.

The AI does the drafting. Reviewing the note is the clinician’s job, every time.

01

Record

Open the patient’s consultation note and start recording, on the iOS or Android app or in the web portal. On mobile the recording is saved on the device and uploaded in chunks while you are connected.

02

Choose how to transcribe

Pick a structured summary or a full transcript, the output language, your section headings, whether to include ICD-10 codes, and which recordings and earlier notes to use.

03

Review and edit

Read the draft against what happened in the room and correct it. The note stays editable, and the clinician remains its author.

04

Use it

Generate referral letters, reports and sick notes from selected notes and recordings. With GreenNotes Billing, recorded codes carry into the invoice.

Illustrative example

Consult in Afrikaans. Read the note in English.

A synthetic consultation excerpt and the structured note a clinician kept after review. Not a real patient; shortened for this page.

Input · part of the recorded conversation (Afrikaans)

Dokter: Hoe lank is jou neus al toe?

Pasiënt: Omtrent twaalf dae. Dit het na die eerste week beter gegaan, maar die laaste drie dae is dit weer erger, en ek het ’n bietjie koors.

Dokter: Is dit seer as jy vorentoe buk?

Pasiënt: Ja, my gesig is baie seer. My oë is nie geswel nie. O, en ek is allergies vir penisillien; ek kry ’n uitslag.

Output · reviewed note (English, SOAP headings, ICD-10 on)

Subjective

  • Twelve days of blocked nose and facial pain, worse when bending forward. Improved after the first week, then worsened over the last three days with a low-grade fever. No eye swelling. Allergic to penicillin (rash).

Objective

  • Temperature 37.8 °C, pulse 84
  • Tender over both maxillary sinuses

Assessment

  • Acute bacterial sinusitis, double-sickening pattern (J01.9)

Plan

  • Clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily for 7 days (penicillin allergy)
  • Sick note for 2 days; return if no better in 72 hours
The examination findings came from the clinician, not the patient. A note can only contain what was said or added: findings the clinician does not say aloud need to be typed in at review.

Languages and headings

Your language. Your structure.

Languages. Speech is detected automatically, and you choose the language of the note from 100+ output languages, including English and Afrikaans. Recognition accuracy is not the same for every language and accent, so test the languages you consult in during your trial.

Headings. Choose your preferred section headings for each transcription, such as SOAP, and whether the note is a structured summary or a full transcript. A practice terminology glossary can use your corrections to improve wording.

Codes. With ICD-10 switched on, the note includes diagnosis codes, which you check at review. In GreenNotes Billing, recorded codes carry into the invoice.

Specialties. See how notes fit general practice, specialist consultations, psychology sessions, dietetics and allied health.

After the note

Letters and reports from the same record.

Select one or more consultation notes and recordings, choose the purpose and output language, and GreenNotes drafts the referral letter, report, sick note or motivation on your practice letterhead. Review it, then send it by email, WhatsApp or SMS, or export it.

In the mobile apps, consultation data and the document scanner also help prepare workers’ compensation W.Cl.4 and W.Cl.5 reports, which you review, export and lodge yourself.

Transcription options, the reviewed note, then a letter. Sample data, from different sample patients.

Questions

Good questions. Straight answers.

Can I consult in Afrikaans and get the note in English?

Yes. Speech is auto-detected, and you choose the note’s output language when you transcribe, so you can consult in Afrikaans and request an English note, or the other way round. There are 100+ output languages. Output-language options do not guarantee equal recognition accuracy for every language or accent, so review each note.

Do I have to review every note?

Yes. The AI produces a draft. Speech recognition can mishear drug names or doses and a summary can leave out detail, so the clinician reads and corrects the note before relying on it. The clinician remains responsible for the record.

Does it work in the browser, or only on the phone?

Both. You can record, transcribe and generate notes and letters in the iOS and Android apps and in the web portal at app.greennotes.co.za. Auto-pause on silence and offline recording are mobile features.

Is there a limit on how many notes I can generate?

There are no AI credits and no monthly cap on GreenNotes Clinical. Each recording can be up to 2 hours long, and each generated letter can use up to 1 hour of audio.

Where is the audio processed?

Recordings and records are stored in South Africa. AI transcription and generation use services outside South Africa: Google Cloud in the European Union with the United States as a fallback, and Groq in the United States. The sub-processors page lists each service and its location.

Do patients need to consent to recording?

Tell patients you are recording, obtain their consent and note it, and offer a way to continue without recording if they decline. GreenNotes supports consent templates signed on-device or by remote link. This is general information, not legal advice.

What does it cost?

AI notes and letters are part of GreenNotes Clinical, from R960 per clinician per month, with free admin staff seats and a 14-day free trial with no card needed.

Try it on your own consultations
